Coyote Family Update for 10/2

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills Elementary!
We hope your week rocks!

TOP Highlights

Test Scores Released: The State of California Department of Education released CAASPP Test Results this last week (Grades 3-5). The results for Cordelia Hills students were mailed home but you can find the school scores, broken down into subject area, subgroup, etc. here. As a school, our math scores increased, while our English-Language Arts scores declined slightly. If you have any questions about the scores, feel free to contact me or your child's teacher anytime.

Coyote Color Run is coming: Our top school event and fundraiser for the school year is coming up. The Coyote Color Run kickoff assembly is this Thursday, October 5th and our run is Wednesday, October 18th. This event promotes health, positive character, and the kids LOVE the event as a way to raise funds for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) as we celebrate our school. Look for Boosterthon information to start coming home on Thursday and beyond!

September Welcome Event: Each month, our staff is committed to celebrating our students with a welcome event of some sort. Last Friday, we danced and handed out bead necklaces as students came in the front gate. Our goal is to surprise students and to show them that we are OVER THE MOON about having them here at CHE!

News, Reminders, and Upcoming Events

• International Walk to School Day is coming up this Wednesday, 10/4. Thank you to the many volunteers who emailed. Volunteers will meet at 7:50 to go to various points around campus to hand out the incentives slips that students receive for participating. Remember, incentives are limited to approximately the first 250 students and the real goal is to celebrate students who are taking the step to health, reduced pollution, and reducing traffic!

• Sign up for REMIND. Text @cordelia to 81010 for text updates. If you were signed up before, please sign up again. I cleared out all information and numbers in the system.

Friday Spirit Day Wear your school gear to school every Friday! Show us your school spirit.

Short Term Independent Study: If you know your child will be gone for 5 school days, and you are interested in independent study, the school must have a written request (email HelenL@fsusd.org) at LEAST 2 WEEKS prior to the absence. She will explain the process.
