CHE Update for 2/27

Thank you to parents and our terrific PTA. Without your support of our students and school, we couldn't make this a terrific place to grow, learn, and work! Your countless hours of volunteering, your financial donations, your positive thoughts, constructive feedback, and the homework help are so important to everything we do. So thanks! Some important dates and events are coming up this week and beyond: 1. Family Reading Night is coming this Thursday, 3/2 from 5:30-7:30. Flyers with information went home last week so check backpacks for more information. Every student gets a free book for coming (while supplies last), light refreshments/story time through the evening, and every student that reads to an adult at Family Reading night gets a free bookmark. If you have books you would like to donate, drop them off in the main office all week!!  We can't wait to celebrate Dr. Seuss with you! 2. A reminder that Friday is the end of the report card period and is a "non-st

Hawk in MPR

Good afternoon parents,  Today, Cordelia Hills responded to the unique situation of having a hawk in our MPR. In order to maintain the safety of our students and staff, the decision was made to move lunch outside. Our District facilities and maintenance staff is working with school staff to remove the hawk and to make sure the lunchroom is safe and secure for use by our students. No students are in any danger but we wanted to make you aware of the situation and the change in lunch routine. If you have any questions, please contact the office or feel free to email me anytime.

CHE Update for 2/21

I see the SUN! Finally, a little bit of time for the students to be outside. I hope you had a great weekend and that this week is filled with great time with family, friends, and co-workers! Below are some announcements and upcoming events/dates. 1. Pennies for Patients : Pennies for Patients is underway at Cordelia Hills. The campaign serves as a fundraiser that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Each class has a collection box and we have individual boxes for each student. The collection will go last thru March 28th (after spring break). Some classes have already raised over $150.00!! As always, thanks for the community support. Please reach out with any questions or contact Sandi or Mrs. Lissick (leads for the campaign). 2. Food for events/parties : A friendly reminder that we request that you do not send in food for parties. While healthier choices are allowable, it is easier to manage the policy if parents send in non-food items to support classrooms or for birthday

CHE Update for 2/15

I hope everyone had a terrific Valentines Day! The Friday night dance was fantastic. A VERY special thank you to the PTA and to Ms. Spence for putting in so much hard work on Friday night. A few updates: 1. Writing assessments will take place in all grades this month. Most grade levels are starting next week. Assessments will be scored before spring break. We are excited for our students to showcase the amazing work they have done around writing. 2. With the nearly non-stop rain we've had this winter season, most physical education classes have been inside. Nevertheless, sometimes we do have them out on the blacktop and we know that blacktop PE will increase as we enter spring. With that in mind, we want to avoid having students ruining clothes while at school because of PE. Please try to send students to school in PE appropriate attire on PE days (check with the classroom teacher if you are unsure of PE days). Also, Mr. Bondy and other staff do offer for students to kneel or

CHE Update for 2/6

Good morning everyone!! Wow! What a Super Bowl. I hope you enjoyed your weekend (football fan or not). I have a ton of information for the week. As always, contact me anytime with questions. 1. Traffic : Please remember that student, staff, and community safety is a top priority for our school. We try to spend a lot of time discussing rules, procedures, and being safe with students over the course of the year. Unfortunately, the message seems to go out the window when it comes to driving in front of the school, especially during drop off and pick up. Please remember to obey all traffic rules, to follow the directives of staff working during traffic pick up and drop off, and to just slow down. Some basic guidelines: A. It is easier to park and walk in. I know this isn't always possible but it is the safest thing you can do. B. It is a school zone. Please keep the speed down and avoid U-Turns, dropping your child off in the middle of the street, and any illegal parking. While I
