Coyote Family Update for 10/16

Welcome back, Coyote Families! We are so excited and grateful that school is back in session. We know this was a traumatic week for many students, families, and staff members and we know that getting back into class will provide a much needed return to routine for everyone. I especially appreciate that many families that were able to contribute time, supplies, and money to the fire relief and fire fighting efforts. I know the greater Solano and Bay Area community appreciates it.

Below is information regarding information and upcoming events over the next the few weeks. As always, contact me with any questions or needs.

1. Student Health and Fire Related FAQs: We are monitoring air quality and will respond accordingly. It is currently rated as moderate and students are allowed to be outside for normal activities, barring any changes during school hours. We have mental health assistance on-site should any student need assistance in coping with fire related issues. Additionally, some students continue to wear masks and that is okay with us. Lastly, we anticipate that the State of California will approve a waiver that will let us forgo the missed days of school last week. This likely means we will not have make-up days. We will keep you updated with what happens with the waiver.

2. Coyote Color Run Update: In light of the situation from last week, we are going to postpone the Coyote Color Run until Wednesday, November 8th. We are going to "re-start" the program on October 30th. The pledge site is still up and accepting pledges. We REALLY appreciate the families that have already pledged! We are going to avoid sending messages and holding pledge activities until the 30th. We want to give families, students, and staff time to get back into the school routine.

3. Cordelia Hills Winter Choir: Cordelia Hills is starting a Winter Choir, under the direction and support of Mrs. Megan Walkenhorst. The Choir will practice before school. Please see this flyer for all of the information: CHE Choir Flyer.

4. Trunk or Treat! Our annual Trunk or Treat is coming up on Friday, October 27th. Please send this flyer for details and to learn how you can participate/help. Thanks again for your support of our terrific school and this great event. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Chun-Remick and DinaC@fsusd.org.

5. Halloween Parade: Our annual Halloween Parade will take place on Tuesday, October 31st. Students are welcome to come in costume (no masks, no blood, no weaponry). The AM TK/Kinder and 1st-5th graders will have a parade starting at 8:25. PM TK/Kindergarten will hold a parade at 11:30 on the upper level of the breezeway on that day.
