CHE Update for 2/15

I hope everyone had a terrific Valentines Day! The Friday night dance was fantastic. A VERY special thank you to the PTA and to Ms. Spence for putting in so much hard work on Friday night.

A few updates:

1. Writing assessments will take place in all grades this month. Most grade levels are starting next week. Assessments will be scored before spring break. We are excited for our students to showcase the amazing work they have done around writing.

2. With the nearly non-stop rain we've had this winter season, most physical education classes have been inside. Nevertheless, sometimes we do have them out on the blacktop and we know that blacktop PE will increase as we enter spring. With that in mind, we want to avoid having students ruining clothes while at school because of PE. Please try to send students to school in PE appropriate attire on PE days (check with the classroom teacher if you are unsure of PE days). Also, Mr. Bondy and other staff do offer for students to kneel or squat instead of sitting on the blacktop. Carpet squares are also available for students to sit on if they choose to do so. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Just a few quick reminders and events for the next few days and weeks:

1. A reminder that the Cordelia Public Library will be coming out today for the first of many visits to CHE. They will be out on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. They will be setting up their "Book Mobile" in our library with books we don't currently own and/or may not own enough of. They will also gladly bring out any requests (parents and teachers included). Parents, students, and staff can also put books on hold the week before and they will bring them out. Just make sure to tell Ms. Baker what name to look for. Hours will be 1:30-2:15. Bring your Solano County library cards. This is a fantastic, unique opportunity for our community!

2. Family Math Night: Family Math Night is Thursday, February 16th from 5:30-7:00 in the MPR. Come check out all of the math games. Popcorn and water will be available for purchase. We can't wait to celebrate math at CHE with your entire family!

3. Family Reading Night: Family Reading Night is March 2nd from 6-8 p.m. We will send out more information next week but reserve the spot on your calendar now. We look forward to another family night.
