Welcome to another week families! Just a few quick updates for the week. It is an exciting time at school and we thank you endlessly for your support.

Movie Night 1/19: CHE Movie Night at 6 p.m. (Boss Baby) in the MPR. Come enjoy the movie and support our PTA! We can't wait to see you.

Jump Rope for Heart: We are hosting a Jump Rope for Heart assembly today to kick off our Jump Rope for Heart campaign. More details will come home with the students, including the information on our February 6th celebration. Thanks in advance for your support. 

Girl Scout Rose Garden Project!!: Our wonderful local Girl Scout Troop 30174 helped to move our Rose Memorial Garden nearer to the front office. It is obvious when you walk up as it a ton of new red bark has been placed in the area (along with several rose trees and bushes). Please work with us to keep students out of the area (for the protection of both students and roses). Check it out and thank you again to our local troop!

Great Kindness Challenge: Next week is the Great Kindness Challenge and we can't wait to participate. Our student leadership group has a ton of activities planned for the week. You can participate. GATE Questions: I saw a healthy discussion about GATE this weekend on local social media. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime with any GATE questions. I am more than happy to meet with families to talk GATE at CHE, GATE magnet at K.I. Jones , and what is best for your particular student. While we always want to keep our students, we also know K.I. is sometimes a better fit and we encourage families to weigh all options. Please be aware that Colleen Hutchinson is now the Assistant Principal at Fairview Elementary and is no longer the GATE coordinator for Fairfield Suisun Unified.

Reminders from last week:

1. Parent Input/Sub-Committee: The CHE School Site Council is looking for parents who have interest in organizing a parent education night. If you have experience or interest in areas such as health, parenting, social media/technology, or preparing for middle school, please reach out to me at stevetr@fsusd.org. We would love to use the vast parent expertise at our school so please reach out if you are interested and think you could help. 

2. Updated Homework Policy: All schools in FSUSD have created and/or updated official homework policies. Our policy can be found here: https://goo.gl/ViVjNQ or on our website at fsusd.org/cordeliahills (to the right under announcements). Please reach out if you have any questions. The key to any success as it relates to homework is to communicate with the teacher if have any concerns or needs as it relates to homework. 

3. Kindergarten/TK registration Starts January 22nd. Please check out this registration link for specific registration details: https://www.fsusd.org/Page/13778. They will continue to update the link with important information.

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills! We look forward to our final ramp up to Wednesday's Fun Run. Check out the blog below for information on the Fun Run, the week, and report card conferences.  Top Highlights •  Coyote Color Run takes place this Wednesday, November 8th. Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card. Thank you for your support in making sure your child is at school everyday!
