Coyote Update for 9/18: Books on Books on Books!

Book Fair Underway!

Good morning Coyote Families!! Our book fair is underway and lasts all week. It is open everyday, before and after school on the stage/music room in the Multi-Purpose Room! Check it out. We appreciate your support. Thank you to PTA and all of the parent volunteers, especially Mrs. Allison for organizing the event!

Highlights
• Another great week for Attendance during Attendance Awareness Month. We had ONLY 4 students absent last Wednesday and only 7 last Thursday. That is virtually unheard of in elementary schools. Great work parents and students! I always dream of a day where EVERY single student is on campus! 

 • STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Music) lessons are underway at CHE. So many great activities underway. Check in with classroom teachers to learn how you can support STEAM. 

 • Coastal Clean-Up Many thanks to the students in Ms. Wilcox's 5th grade classroom (and beyond) that were able to support the creek clean-up efforts behind our school. The class always takes on the project and always do a terrific job. 

 Upcoming Events/News
• Sign up for REMIND. Text @cordelia to 81010 for text updates. If you were signed up before, please sign up again. I cleared out all information and numbers in the system.

•  Friday Spirit Day Wear your school gear to school every Friday! Show us your school spirit.

•  Short Term Independent Study: If you know your child will be gone for 5 school days, and you are interested in independent study, the school must have a written request (email HelenL@fsusd.org) at LEAST 2 WEEKS prior to the absence. She will explain the process.

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills! We look forward to our final ramp up to Wednesday's Fun Run. Check out the blog below for information on the Fun Run, the week, and report card conferences.  Top Highlights •  Coyote Color Run takes place this Wednesday, November 8th. The run  schedule is set with: TK-K @ 10:00 4-5 @ 11 1-3 @ 12:30 The run will take place on the Upper Field.  Funrun.com  is open and is accepting online pledges for support of STEAM funding at Cordelia Hills. Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card.
