Cordelia Hills Coyotes Update for 9/8

 Another great week down! I had two days of training so I didn't get to see the kids all day at the end of the week. Next week is a very busy week. Check out the information below and have a fantastic weekend!

 Highlights!
• Attendance Awareness Month is in full swing. We had A TON of classes with perfect attendance this week. We kept our attendance rates above 97%. Teachers and students have been creating attendance videos to share with the entire school about "why attendance is important to them". Bravo and let's keep up the great work next week, this month, and beyond!

• School Wide Positive Behavior Systems continue to be implemented. We saw a huge rise in Paw Prides this week (over 100 school wide pride slips were handed out for responsible, respectful, and safe behavior). 

• We are finalizing our student council structure for this school year. This will be the first student council at the school in some time and we are excited for our students to take a larger leadership role in our school! More details will go out to teachers and students next week!

News and Events!

• Fall Photo Day is coming up on Wednesday, September 13th. Forms were sent home today. If you need an extra, stop by the main office or email me and we will get an additional form into your child's backpack!

• PTA meets on Wednesday, September 13th at 6:15 in the library

 •  WE NEED YOU! We need English Learners Advisory Committee Members. Thanks for those that emailed. THE first meeting will be held next week on Thursday, September 14th. We will hold two meetings to meet needs. We will meet at both 8:30 and 3:00. Check in the main office. All parents of English Learners are welcome!

 • Sign up for REMIND. Text @cordelia to 81010 for text updates. If you were signed up before, please sign up again. I cleared out all information and numbers in the system.

•  Friday Spirit Day Wear your school gear to school every Friday! Show us your school spirit.

•  Short Term Independent Study: If you know your child will be gone for 5 school days, and you are interested in independent study, the school must have a written request (email HelenL@fsusd.org) at LEAST 2 WEEKS prior to the absence. She will explain the process.

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills! We look forward to our final ramp up to Wednesday's Fun Run. Check out the blog below for information on the Fun Run, the week, and report card conferences.  Top Highlights •  Coyote Color Run takes place this Wednesday, November 8th. The run  schedule is set with: TK-K @ 10:00 4-5 @ 11 1-3 @ 12:30 The run will take place on the Upper Field.  Funrun.com  is open and is accepting online pledges for support of STEAM funding at Cordelia Hills. Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card. Thank you for your support in making sure your child is at school everyday!
