CHE Update for 1/30

Hello everyone! I hope all is well this Monday morning. I hear a lot of coughing going on and I am definitely feeling the cold season personally. Take care this week!

Some important updates and announcements for this week:

1. TK and K registration/Open Enrollment: Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten registration is now open at CHE and across Fairfield-Suisun. For students new to CHE for the next school year, please follow the directions found here: 2017-18 Registration. Please contact our main office with any questions. Also, Open Enrollment starts February 1st and ends February 28th at 4:00 p.m. The application and information can be found at fsusd.org

2. Proposed Changes in "The Ranch" school boundaries: The Fairfield Suisun Unified School District Board of Trustees will vote on proposed changes to school boundaries for "The Ranch" development of Cordelia. Currently, students who live in "The Ranch" can enroll in either Oakbrook or Cordelia Hills Elementary. Under the proposed changes, any new residents or TK/K students enrolling for the 17-18 school year will enroll in Cordelia Hills. Any current Oakbrook students who live in "The Ranch" would continue to attend Oakbrook under the proposed changes. For more information, check out our website for information here: Ranch Information. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me anytime.

3. Parent Survey: Cordelia Hills and FSUSD will be conducting surveys regarding several different areas of the school experience. The CHE survey is live already at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PTZZP7Y. It is just a few quick questions to help gauge parent engagement at Cordelia Hills. FSUSD will be coming out with an annual survey starting in February. I will send the link out once I have it. I appreciate your time for both surveys!

4. Upcoming events and dates at CHE:

Upcoming Events:

Global Play Day/100th Day of School: Global Play Day and the 100th Day of School are coming up on February 1st. The Global Play Day encourages teachers to allow students the opportunity for unstructured play (for a part or all of the day). The event encourages students to have to create, think, develop interaction habits, and independence without heavy adult supervision every step of the way. Teachers may ask for your help in bringing in games, legos, and other materials to help support the day. We appreciate your help! Also, the 100th day of school is coming and it is important day for primary grades as they use the day to focus on number sense and in math lessons.

Father/Daughter Dance: This PTA sponsored event is coming up Friday, February 10th from 5:30-8:30 in the MPR. The event is reserved for CHE girl students plus 1 special guest. Students can pre-order corsages and boutonnieres (pre-order is $8.00 and door is 10.00). Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Students will receive a formal invitation.

Family Math Night: CHE staff members are sponsoring a Family Math Night on Thursday, February 16th. The evening includes math games and light refreshments. Come celebrate math at CHE from 5:30-7:30
