CHE Update for 1/23

Howdy everyone! I hope all is well. The sun is trying to come out here this morning. Our kids can't wait to get outside to play. This week is highlighted by the Great Kindness Challenge. Check out the below for more information about the challenge and for information on the week. Have a terrific day and week!

1.   Great Kindness ChallengeCHE and many other schools across the District/country are participating in the Great Kindness Challenge during the week of January 23rd (http://www.greatkindnesschallenge.org/). The goal is to practice as many acts of kindness as possible during the week. The website has some interesting, novel ideas and challenges. I hope you can encourage your student(s) to participate! Today and tomorrow, students are invited to participate in some school wide kindness events at recess. Additionally, they have a chance to show kindness in the MPR  (back window kindness wall) and with individual kindness tags that are being handed out.

2. PBIS: Our school staff continues to encourage students to practice the three school rules (being safe, respectful, and responsible) every day. We try to recognize students who are doing an outstanding job by handing out Paw Pride tags. We select Paw Prides during our Friday drawing and students can select a prize. If you have any small prizes (pencils, stickers, tags, small toys) that you would like to donate, please let me know or drop them off. We are always looking for small, inexpensive things to show our appreciation for those going the extra mile here at CHE. Thanks!

3. Progress Reports: Progress reports are complete and are in my office for review. They should arrive on Friday, February 13th. Progress reports are not required for students who are at or above grade level in all areas. Please contact the classroom teacher if you have any questions, needs, or concerns. Please remember, this is the current snapshot of progress. We want to continue to try to partner with you to see growth to the greatest potential of each student.

Upcoming Events:

Global Play Day/100th Day of School: Global Play Day and the 100th Day of School are coming up on February 1st. The Global Play Day encourages teachers to allow students the opportunity for unstructured play (for a part or all of the day). The event encourages students to have to create, think, develop interaction habits, and independence without heavy adult supervision every step of the way. Teachers may ask for your help in bringing in games, legos, and other materials to help support the day. We appreciate your help! Also, the 100th day of school is coming and it is important day for primary grades as they use the day to focus on number sense and in math lessons.

School Spirit Day: The next school spirit day is coming up this Friday, January 27th. The day is Western Day and students are encouraged to wear Western Wear! I can't wait to see what our students can come up with!
