Weekly Update--Cordelia Hills Elementary

Hello everyone! I hope your week has gotten off to a great start. CHE is off and running and off to a wonderful Monday.

A few upcoming considerations and events for this week and beyond:

1. MAP/MPG: Our students are taking District benchmarks in Language (2nd-5th) and Math (1st-5th). Students will be testing over the course of the next 3 weeks. Results come quickly and will help teachers in and students in determining areas of need and in setting individual goals. 

2. Attendance: Congratulations to Ms. White (4th grade) and Ms. Spence (Kindergarten) for top attendance percentage for last week. Our school wide attendance over the last week has hovered around 95% (32 absent students). We are aiming for 98% and appreciate your help in making sure our students are here every day (as long they aren't sick).

3.  PLTI: FSUSD is hosting the Parent Leadership Training Institute at the FSUSD Adult School. The next PLTI is an open house on Thursday, January 12th from 5:00-7:00 at 900 Travis Blvd. This is a great parent capacity building opportunity. We had one parent attend the last meeting and we would love to have more representation from the Cordelia community. 4. 5th grade families: The following letter is coming home directly to 5th grade students. The letter contains information specific to middle school orientation and end of the year events. Please check it out if your student is in 5th grade this year: 5th Grade Letter

January 23rd: Great Kindness Challenge--all week
January 26th: ELAC at 3:15
January 27th: Progress reports go home, Spirit Day--Western Day
February 1st: 100th day of school
February 3rd: Student of the Month Lunch
February 13th and 20th: No School, Lincoln and Washington Birthdays

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills! We look forward to our final ramp up to Wednesday's Fun Run. Check out the blog below for information on the Fun Run, the week, and report card conferences.  Top Highlights •  Coyote Color Run takes place this Wednesday, November 8th. The run  schedule is set with: TK-K @ 10:00 4-5 @ 11 1-3 @ 12:30 The run will take place on the Upper Field.  Funrun.com  is open and is accepting online pledges for support of STEAM funding at Cordelia Hills. Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card.
