New Class Opening at Cordelia Hills Elementary

Good afternoon,

I am contacting parents to let you know that we are opening an additional classroom at Cordelia Hills starting this Friday, August 25th. This 4th-5th grade combination class will be located in Room B-10. This new class will help to reduce the enormous class sizes at upper grades and give each child a better experience. 

While moving after the start of the school year is not the optimal situation, it is the best choice for our students and school and one that we are excited to make.

If you have a 4th grade student or 5th grade student who has been selected to start in the new class, we will notify you by letter tomorrow and attempt to make phone contact with you. Please understand that we know this move can create some anxiety and angst with students and parents but we are confident that we will have a smooth, supportive transition to the new classroom.

Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card.
