CHE Family Update for 8/24/17

We are wrapping up another week at Cordelia Hills! Thank you for being a part of our school community and for supporting some of the most amazing Coyote students ever! 

I know it has been a tough week for some of our 4th and 5th grade students as we had to make a fairly sudden shift to a new class. We look forward to the addition of our newest class and for the growth of all of our students. 

This update includes information and calendar updates for events thru October! 



1. Back to School Night: Back to School Night is coming up this Tuesday, August 29th. A few things to know for the evening: Gates will open around 5:30, all parents meet in the MPR at 6:00. Class visits start at 6:30 and then a second session at 7:00. The evening ends at 7:30. PTA will be on site selling memberships and spirit wear!! We encourage parents only but we won't turn away families if you have to bring your children. Also, remember, this is an opportunity to meet the teacher and learn about the classroom. We will be unable to have individual parent conferences at this event. 

2. Morning Routine: I know many parents have expressed confusion or angst over the later gate opening. We appreciate your patience and understanding as the gates now open 8-10 minutes later. Once students enter campus, they should report to morning PE by 8:20 (they can hang backpacks up if time permits).

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills! We look forward to our final ramp up to Wednesday's Fun Run. Check out the blog below for information on the Fun Run, the week, and report card conferences.  Top Highlights •  Coyote Color Run takes place this Wednesday, November 8th. The run  schedule is set with: TK-K @ 10:00 4-5 @ 11 1-3 @ 12:30 The run will take place on the Upper Field.  Funrun.com  is open and is accepting online pledges for support of STEAM funding at Cordelia Hills. Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card.
