Welcome Back! I am hoping this bright sun will wash away some of the flu and cold that has been going around! Check out the notes below and 
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

School is FLYING by this year. We are already at 100 days and more than half way to the end of the year. A few important announcements to keep in mind:

1. Mid-Year MAP Testing has arrived. The Language and Math District benchmarks take place in grades 1-5 over the next two weeks. We are looking for growth in every single student and I believe we are going to see it! Our students and staff have been working extremely hard. 

2. Father-Daughter Dance Coming Up: The father daughter dance, sponsored by our PTA, is this Friday evening. They are still looking for volunteer assistance. Check out this link to sign up to help: Father Daughter Volunteer Link.

3. Attendance, Attendance, Attendance: We need your help. Please send your child to school everyday unless they are sick. I know circumstances sometimes arise that make it difficult to get them here but we need them here, on-time, everyday, if possible. All the teaching in the world won't work for an absent student. Thanks for your help!

4. Parent Engagement: If you have an interest in supporting parent engagement efforts here at CHE, please contact me. We are looking at anyone who can lend resources or expertise in the areas of health, parenting, or social media. Thank you to the parents who already emailed. 

5. Digital Footprint As more and more students are receiving devices and logging into social media accounts, some that parents have NO IDEA about, we all need ways that we can encourage our students to be SAFE. They must understand that their "digital footprint" starts the minute they sign up/ log on. What they put out on social media cannot be taken back. Check out THIS ARTICLE for ways parents can be safety experts. Also, please oh please, check your students phone every once in awhile. Do you have their log in and passwords to their social media accounts? You should.
Upcoming Activities/Dates:

The Open Enrollment window is open through the end of the month. Check out FSUSD.ORG for more information. Assistance on the application is available in English and Spanish.

2/5: MAP testing begins (Grade 1-5)
2/6: Jump Rope for Heart Day (TK and K are on 2/7)
2/7: Global Play Day (http://www.globalschoolplayday.com/)
2/9: Father Daughter Dance @ 5:00
2/12 and 2/19: No School
2/13: PTA meeting @ 6:15. Nominations open. Email me for more info!

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills! We look forward to our final ramp up to Wednesday's Fun Run. Check out the blog below for information on the Fun Run, the week, and report card conferences.  Top Highlights •  Coyote Color Run takes place this Wednesday, November 8th. Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card.
