CHE Update for 3/6

Hi everyone!! Happy Monday. We are off to a great start this week and so thank you for getting your happy and healthy kids here to start off the week! This last week has been stellar for attendance with our school topping out over 98% attendance. Mrs. Chun-Remick's class and Mrs. Gill's class had perfect attendance all last week and Mrs. Chun-Remick is now going on 6 straight days with no one absent. 

A few announcements and reminders for this week:

1. Parent Toolkit: Mrs. Cherry at GVMS shared a terrific link that supports parents in supporting students. Check it out at http://www.parenttoolkit.com/. They have information and resources for each grade. If you have already navigated the website and have any advice or feedback on it, please feel free to email me or share. 

2. Report Card Conferences: Report card conferences are approaching quickly. If you would like a report card conference or if a teacher has reached out to you, please make sure you get it scheduled asap. We want to make sure the school and parents are teamed up to serve your students. The conferences take place from 3/15-3/17 with dismissal at 11:40 each day. Report cards for non-conference students will come home on 3/15. 

3. Upcoming dates/events:

March 7th: DINE AND DONATE from 4-9 p.m. at Cenarios on Pittman Road
March 8th: GVMS orientation for current 5th graders
March 15th-March 17th: Minimum Days--dismissal at 11:35 (TK/K) and 11:40 (1st-5th grade)
March 20-24: Spring Break
March 27: Mixed fundraiser begins
March 27-March 30: Brick space activities in each class
April 3-April 6: Royal Dance
April 13: Spring BOGO Book Fair (2:45-8:00 p.m.--MPR)
April 14: Non Student Day, Mother-Son Hike

Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card.
