CH Update for 5/29

Two more weeks to go. Two very important weeks. Often, our teachers and students get worn and tired heading into these last two weeks. I contend these two weeks are just as important as those first two weeks. The students take a cue from the attitude of adults. Thanks for your positive support in getting our scholars to school everyday and to making this end of the year exciting, meaningful, and rewarding.

Not too many NEW updates. Just a few reminders as we close out the year.

Dates/Events
June 4: Field Day, Wear Your Favorite Sports Gear Day
June 6: Honor Roll/Attendance Recognition @ 8:45 in the amphitheater.
5th grade Farewell Practice afterwards.
June 8: Last Day of School, Minimum Day (release at 11:50 for grades 1-5), 5th grade farewell (info here)

Parent Requests

Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child.
Chromebook 1:1

As I mentioned in previous posts, CH will be 1:1 with Chromebook devices next year. Students will have three options for Chromebooks:

1. Use personal devices at school.
2. Use school devices at school only (signed out to student but kept in the classroom).
3. Use school devices at school and home (signed out to student and brought to and from school each day, all year).

Each option will require parent signature on device paperwork. We are tentatively scheduled to hold two informational/check-out days on August 14th and 15th. More information on time and exact details will come out soon.

Illuminate Portal

Starting next year, all report cards and progress reports will be electronic for all students in FSUSD. For students in TK-5, report cards will be accessible via Illuminate. You will receive a letter with information on how to sign up and with specific access code information for your student. Please note that the portal is different for middle school and high school students.
