Coyote Family Update for 11/13

Thank you for your AMAZING support!

We greatly appreciate all of your support for our Coyote Color Run last week. We raised $1000's that will go towards science, technology, engineering, art, and math instruction and activities at our school. It was great to see so many parents on-site cheering students on during the run. 

Below are some reminders and updates for the week. As always, please contact me or the school with any questions. 

• Conference Week--adjusted schedule Just a reminder that it is conference week and that we are out at 11:40 (kinder/TK) and 11:50 (1-5) every day this week. Traffic is heavy with a school-wide early dismissal so please be patient and flexible. Please avoid parking in the drop off zone or in the bus/daycare van zone. It is greatly appreciated! 

• Thanksgiving Week Just a reminder that school is closed next week (November 20-November 24) for Thanksgiving break. School resumes on Monday, November 27th. 

Highlights

• Veterans Day Recognition: Our school hosted over a half dozen veterans and the Green Valley Middle School Band last Thursday. The band played the Star Spangled Banner and the Veterans made classroom presentations in most of our classes. We can never thank our Veterans enough for the service to our country, our community, and our students. It is much appreciated!

 • Student Recognition: Several Coyotes were recognized by the FSUSD School Board for academic achievement on the Spring SBAC assessments. They scored the highest scaled score possible in ELA/Math/Both. Two additional students were recognized for winning county wide poster contests. Bravo to our amazing scholars and artists!

Attendance Rates

Below are attendance rates for the last few days. Our goal is 98%. Our enrollment fluctuates from day to day but generally this means keeping our absence numbers below 13 students.  Thank you for your support in reaching our goal!

Welcome to another week at Cordelia Hills! We look forward to our final ramp up to Wednesday's Fun Run. Be an Internet Safety Champion Our students have a terrific amount of access to information and infinite methods for communication via the information. With that access comes a need for education and accountability. Many educators struggle to keep up with all that comes with greater access. We reach out to you to partner with us to held build strong internet capable students. Please monitor use by your student. We encourage regular conversations about internet safety. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped in making The Coyote Howl a success. Seeing smiling faces and kids enjoying the evening is always the best and your hard work, determination, time, and donations made it happen Friday night! Go Coyotes! Parent Requests Many of you have asked if you can request a teacher for your child. The short answer is no. We work hard as a staff to ensure our classes are balanced in academics, behaviors, gender, diversity and size. Thank you for trusting us with your child. MAP Testing District benchmark MAP testing has begun in grades 1-5. The end of year assessments take place in both ELA and math and will be reported on the end of year report card.
