CHE Update for 5/8

Happy Monday everyone. We are over the moon this week as we celebrate our staff. Thank you to all of the kind parents and students that have already shared gratitude this morning. It is much appreciated!

We have a few announcements and reminders (many from the last two weeks) here:

Things to know:

The event is from 5-8 p.m. in our MPR on 5/19 and includes music, dancing, food, carnival games, a teacher experience auction, a cake walk, and more! 

We need your help. Teachers may email you specifically about helping for a particular class but here are two school-wide links for volunteering:

2. CAASPP testing: CAASPP (state) testing continues this week and next week. Our 3rd graders totally rocked the test last week and we have moved to 4th grade for this week. Thanks for getting your student here on time and for scheduling appointments outside of the testing window. It is much appreciated! 

Follow-up from last week:

3. Bike to School Day is coming up:  Bike to school day is approaching. Students are encouraged to bike, skateboard, or ride a scooter to school this Wednesday, May 10th (and anytime they wish). We have small incentives for the first 80 students to show up at the bike corral with bike/skateboard/scooter in tow on 5/10. Please remember to have your students in a helmet when they ride to school.

SASO Swimming is a local non-profit swim club that has year round competitive swimming, adult Masters Swimming, and a recreational swim club. All of this is located in Fairfield. Check out this flyer for more information:  SASO Swimming

5th Grade Farewell Information

Our 5th graders are preparing for the 5th Grade Farewell. The 2018 Farewell will take place on Friday, June 8th starting at 10:30 a.m. in the MPR. A few things to note: Timing : The event will start at 10:30 and will last approximately one hour (until 11:50). Students will be dismissed at the end of the event as the day is a minimum day.  Event:  The event will start in the MPR and will then transition to the quad. Parents are welcome to come into the MPR starting at 9:50. After the MPR portion of the event, guests will be asked to move to the quad stairs. Guests : We are asking the families limit guests to no more than 2 guests per student . With 120 seated students and limited space in the MPR, we simply won't have enough room for many more people. Please remember, this is a farewell celebration and it is not a promotion/graduation and students will not receive a certificate and names will not be called individually. CHE update for 10/7

Yesterday, as I was leaving school, a few of our students were waiting outside for a ride. The girls stay after school to participate in a program called Girls on the Run. They had wrapped up the activities for the afternoon and were headed home. These girls exuded confidence, strength, and life. Talking with these girls in that moment made me so proud to be here at CHE and to be a partner with you in raising some AMAZING young students. A few of my closest co-workers from across Fairfield-Suisun Unified have joined to get moving this October. We have challenged each other to 100 miles (walk/run), 100 minutes of plank, and 100 minutes of meditation. We are calling it #movetober. We welcome anyone in our school community to join us and encourage you to post your work on social media with the hashtag #movetober. Anyways, enough blabbering from me.
