CHE Family Update for 8/24/17

Image
We are wrapping up another week at Cordelia Hills! Thank you for being a part of our school community and for supporting some of the most amazing Coyote students ever!  I know it has been a tough week for some of our 4th and 5th grade students as we had to make a fairly sudden shift to a new class. We look forward to the addition of our newest class and for the growth of all of our students.  This update includes information and calendar updates for events thru October!  1. Back to School Night : Back to School Night is coming up this Tuesday, August 29th. A few things to know for the evening: Gates will open around 5:30, all parents meet in the MPR at 6:00. Class visits start at 6:30 and then a second session at 7:00. The evening ends at 7:30. PTA will be on site selling memberships and spirit wear!! We encourage parents only but we won't turn away families if you have to bring your children. Also, remember, this is an opportunity to meet the teacher a...

New Class Opening at Cordelia Hills Elementary

Good afternoon, I am contacting parents to let you know that we are opening an additional classroom at Cordelia Hills starting this Friday, August 25th. This 4th-5th grade combination class will be located in Room B-10. This new class will help to reduce the enormous class sizes at upper grades and give each child a better experience.  While moving after the start of the school year is not the optimal situation, it is the best choice for our students and school and one that we are excited to make. If you have a 4th grade student or 5th grade student who has been selected to start in the new class, we will notify you by letter tomorrow and attempt to make phone contact with you. Please understand that we know this move can create some anxiety and angst with students and parents but we are confident that we will have a smooth, supportive transition to the new classroom. Thank you again for your time and support.

CHE Weekly Family Update for August 18

Welcome Back! It was a fantastic first week! Staff was so excited to have our amazing students back on campus and we are so happy to welcome all of the new Coyotes. A preview of this weeks update includes: a reminder on new morning procedures, eclipse information, reminders about nutrition and forms, and upcoming dates and events. Thanks again for being an amazing school community and as always feel free to email or stop by to talk! 1. Morning Routine : Many of you have emailed about changes to the morning routine. While the changes do present some difficulty for parents, we believe they are in the best interest of our students. I want to recap the changes below so everyone is clear on what they are: A. The front roll up gate and back gate open between 8:10-8:15. This gives students just enough time to hang up back packs and report to morning PE or classrooms (TK/K only). This reduces the amount of unsupervised/less supervised time students are on campus. This...

Just a few days left for the 2016-2017 school year and we have so much left to do! Thank you for your support of our school and your students! It is so easy to mail it in these last few weeks and so we appreciate your work in keeping the passion alive for our students!  A HUGE thank you to the many volunteers, staff members, and especially PTA members who made the Coyote Howl Hop possible. I really enjoyed my first year at the event and was so happy to see so many wonderful families together enjoying the warm evening on our campus. Thank you! A big congratulations to the many students who are wrapping up successful baseball and softball seasons and are now starting summer swimming! I love seeing students excited about activities that extend beyond school!  Lastly, we are wrapping up CAASPP state testing right this moment. I literally have one student left and she is testing in my office at this very moment. We have some final District assessments to complete and t...
